BabyWOW (ISO)

BabyWOW! 3.0 - Baby WOW is an Award-Winning Software for babies & toddlers. There's no replacement for your baby's or toddler's discovery of the real world. However, unlike for most of us as children, their real world includes the computer. The computer has many wonderful attributes that make it a valuable tool for parents of young children such as its ability to deliver high quality sounds and images while teaching cause and effect relationships. BabyWow was created to reward a child's natural curiosity about the computer with an interactive experience based on early development research. babyWOW! speaks 8 languages. It doesn't replace anything in your child's life. Instead, it creates a new opportunity for you and your child to learn and interact together. Have you found that your child expresses a natural curiosity for the computer? So did we. That's why we created babyWOW! It was created by parents for parents. It turns your childs´s natural curiosity into a verbal and visual experience that you both can share. The computer is uniquely suited to teach cause and effect: something the videos can´t do. It is able to speak to children using high quality sounds while showing them high-quality photography. Something board books can't do.

No, babyWOW is not like other software products. Although babywow adds another play option during a parent's busy day, it is based on principles derived from early development research. For example, it turns out that a child's ability to make language sounds is determined very early in life. That's why babyWOW! speaks in 8 languages: English, Spanish, Italian, Chinese(Mandarin), Japanese, German, Portuguese, and French.

Learning journey - trips into discovery

babyWOW! is divided up among a series of activities. Below are some images from the product. These images are far from all the CD-ROM contains but they will give you a sense of how the product looks and works. .

The menu for the product is always available. Once you press the menu icon, a very simple menu appears where the parent can get access to everything in the product. The activities are all one or two mouse clicks away.

The menu was designed to put the parent in control. Activities are easy to find and control. Parents can choose how long the child plays, what activities they play with, and even the language that the product speaks: babyWOW! speaks 8 languages in all.

In one of the simplest activities, children make a bee move by pressing the keyboard. Every time they press, a small piece of classical music is played or a positive comment like "good job" is stated.

Vocabulary is introduced with simple images devoid of any distraction. babyWOW! speaks 8 languages: English Spanish Italian German French Portuguese Chinese Japanese

The imagery becomes more complex in later activities. The photography is brought to life to show "near and far." Every time your child presses the keyboard, an object moves farther or closer to the foreground. In this example, the beach ball floats down the river and back again.

Animated sequences let children make things go into other things and out again. This lets them learn about the notion of in and out as a consequence of their actions. In this example, your child's press will make the toy train go under the glass and back out again as a voice says "in" and "out" in whatever language you choose.

In "What is it?" a child's presses reveal a picture one square at a time. Every press generates a tone so they make their own music until the picture is uncovered and the accompanying word is played. In this case, the word is "lion." The images show animals in a natural setting as much as possible.

For counting, an object appears every time they press. Rather than emphasizing the actual number, babyWOW! emphasizes the notion of increasing mass, i.e. the object fills more and more of the screen. This design is an example of how the product was impacted by input from researchers.

Teach about the parts of the body by going on a short adventure with 3 children. This is the type of activity that has not been possible to do in CD-ROMs based on cartoons and illustration

Children explore vocabulary by going on "learning journies" where they see objects and hear sounds in their native environments.
